Gardening Questions & Answers from the Prepper Broadcasting Radio Show
I had an opportunity to be a guest on Bexarprepper’s radio show at prepperbroadcasting.com Tuesday night. It was a lot of fun, and some very good questions were asked. What I want to do now is go over some of those questions and visually explain why I gave the answers that I did.
Some of the topics of discussion were :
Saving and re-using potting mixes. I think its a good idea, as long as there as been no disease problems.
What plant would I most like to learn how to grow. That’s an easy one. Moringa … The Miracle Tree … I’m still trying to figure these things out.
How to deal with squash bugs. When you’re spraying, concentrate on spraying the trunk or base of the plant, rather than the upper leaves. The bugs hand out at the base of the plant a lot of the time.
3 things I wouldn’t want to be without in my gardening. First off, something to help fertilize the gardens, so I’d say chickens for the manure, and also for eggs. Whenever you’re doing any kind of prepping, it’s a good idea to look for things that serve multiple purposes. Second would be Neem oil or a soap like Dawn or Murphy’s oil. Neem is a good insecticide and helps with mildew as well. And the soaps are great for adding to sprays to help them stick to the leaves better. Third would be baking soda, since it can be used to help with blight and fungal issues, and also will be used in the kitchen while baking and can be added to beans to help lessen the effects of…well…you know what happens when you eat too many dried beans. 🙂
